Truffle Days in Istria are held once again to apriciate a delicacy tuber magnatum or better known as white truffle. This year the festivities will begin on the eight of september in a small Istrian town Livade known for the biggest white truffle ever found weighing 1310g and a record setter in the guinness book of world records.
On second of november in the year 1999 a restaurant owner by the name of Giancarlo Zigante and his dog Dijana found the biggest white truffle and named it Milenium, in its glory a cooper cast was made and now a Milenium made of cooper is on the display in the shop with original Istrian products in Livade. In the squares of Livade, Buzet and Motovun you can enjoy the rich program of Truffle Days in Istria and many activities like searching for truffels with trained dogs, gurmae expeiences, presentations from many great Croatian and foreign chefs, big town party with a 2018 scrambled eggs and 10 kilograms of truffles. Moreover there are Authentic Istran products fair, Agricultural products fair and an exhibition and an auction of truffles.
The people of Istria will welcome you and share their joy with everyone interestend in their festivities and the king of mushrooms - truffle which grows only in some parts of Italy, France and in Istria.Truffle days are meant to keep the tradition of aprriciating truffles which was started thousands of years ago in ancient Mesopotamia. Along truffles there will be presented other recogniseable products made in Istria like olive oil and wine.
